Overview
Considered one of the most beautiful alpine meadows in India, Dayara Bugyal is a perfect trek for beginners and families.
The vast expanse of the bugyal (meadow) stretches over 28 square kilometers, offering uninterrupted, awe-inspiring views of the mighty Gangotri range, including Mt. Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, and Bhagirathi peaks. Walking on this seemingly endless green velvet ground in summer, or a flawless white snow blanket in winter, is an experience that stays with you forever.
Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Raithal
A long but beautiful 7-8 hour drive from Dehradun through the winding mountain roads of Uttarkashi to the base camp village of Raithal.
Day 2: Raithal to Gui
A short 4 km trek through a well-laid forest trail of oak and rhododendron. The Gui campsite offers the first clear views of Mt. Gangotri.
Day 3: Gui to Chilapada
A gentle hike leading closer to the tree line. The campsite sits right at the edge of the forest before the grand meadows begin.
Day 4: Chilapada to Dayara Top and return to Gui
The most exciting day. Step into the sprawling meadows of Dayara Bugyal. Reach the summit (Dayara Top) for full 360-degree views, and descend to Gui.
Day 5: Gui to Raithal
A quick descent back to the base camp village of Raithal, celebrating the successful trek.
Day 6: Raithal to Dehradun
Drive back to Dehradun, arriving at the railway station by evening.
