As the name suggests ("Gulabi" meaning Pink), Gulabi Kantha is renowned for its widespread blooming of bright pink rhododendron flowers and high-altitude Himalayan flora during the spring.
Unlike famous neighbor treks like Kedarkantha which receive hundreds of trekkers daily, Gulabi Kantha remains relatively off the radar. Situated near Hanuman Chatti in the Yamuna Valley, this trek offers a solitary, peaceful, and immersive experience. You walk through incredibly dense oak and cedar forests before breaking into sprawling meadows presenting commanding, close-up views of the Bandarpoonch peak massif.
Short Expedition Itinerary
DAY 1
Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti
Starting from Dehradun, a scenic 6-hour drive alongside the Yamuna river takes you to the holy town of Hanuman Chatti. Settle into the basecamp guesthouse and enjoy the evening.
DAY 2
Hanuman Chatti to Seema Thatch
The hike begins with a steady ascent through an old-growth forest rich in avifauna. Emerge from the treeline to camp at the peaceful clearing of Seema Thatch.
DAY 3
Seema Thatch to Gulabi Kantha Top & Back
The main event. Walk across vibrant floral meadows upward to the Gulabi Kantha ridge. Witness 360-degree views of Himalayan giants. Return to camp for the night.
DAY 4
Seema Thatch to Hanuman Chatti
Rapidly descend the forest trail back to civilzation at Hanuman Chatti. Rest those tired legs and celebrate the trek's completion with the team.
DAY 5
Drive to Dehradun
Post breakfast, begin the drive back to Dehradun. The tour officially concludes upon arrival at Dehradun ISBT or Railway station.
