The Kuari Pass trek, also famously known as the Lord Curzon trail, is predominantly known for offering the most unobstructed, grandest views of Mt. Nanda Devi, India's highest mountain located entirely within the country.
Apt for beginners, this trek passes through ancient intertwined forests of oak and rhododendron, suddenly breaking into the spectacular meadows of Gorson Bugyal. As you walk the ridge towards the Kuari Pass, a massive gallery of towering Garhwal peaks — including Dronagiri, Kamet, Chaukhamba, and Trishul — reveals itself layer by layer in a breathtaking panorama.
Arrive at Rishikesh and board vehicles for a long uphill drive along the Alaknanda river to reach the ski-town of Joshimath.
Drive to Dhak village and commence the trek. A gradual ascent passing through local farming villages brings you to the beautiful oak forest camp of Gulling.
The trek gets deeply forested. Walk through dense rhododendron and oak trails to reach the vast clearing of Khullara, offering your first giant view of Mt. Dronagiri.
The summit day. Climb to the Kuari Pass (12,500 ft) witnessing an ocean of peaks. After spending time at the top, hike down the scenic ridge towards Tali forest camp.
The grand finale. Walk across the immensely famous Gorson Bugyal with Nanda Devi towering in front, descending finally into the ski-resorts of Auli and driving to Joshimath.
Depart from Joshimath early morning to reach Rishikesh by late evening for onward travel.
